The Onwa Philosophy
We’re not a marketplace, a swap site, or a generic book club.
Onwa is a circular reading network built around a simple belief: the best books should keep moving.
Each book becomes part of an ongoing journey – passed from reader to reader, gathering new places, new readers, and new meaning along the way.
The Founding Readers Beta
We’re starting carefully with 100 Founding Reader places across the UK.
The first version of Onwa will be simple, personal, and manually coordinated, so we can learn what makes book circulation feel rewarding, trustworthy, and easy.
Founding Readers will help test the real behaviour behind Onwa: listing books, joining queues, sending books onward, confirming arrivals, and shaping what the platform becomes next.
Questions on the Journey
Is Onwa a book swap site?
Onwa is a circulation network. Rather than traditional swapping, we facilitate a continuous, community-powered flow where books move through a chain of readers across the UK.
Do I get my book back?
Onwa is designed around sending books onward, not temporary lending. You should only list books you are happy to let continue their journey.
Where is ONWA launching?
Onwa will start with 100 Founding Reader places across the UK, beginning with a small first wave.
Will each book have its own journey?
That’s the vision. Over time, each book on Onwa will have its own journey page – showing where it has travelled, how many times it has been Onwa’d, notes, and moments it has gathered along the way.
What books should I list?
Books other readers will genuinely want: modern fiction, fantasy, thrillers, romance, BookTok favourites, thoughtful non-fiction, self-development, and well-loved recommendations.
Do I need an app?
No. The first version will be simple and manually coordinated while we test the core behaviour.
